Dermal Fillers
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers consist of hyaluronic acid which is a substance that naturally occurs in our skin its main role is to retain moisture which is why it has great implications in aesthetic medicine. Dermal fillers are used for a variety of reasons namely, to enhance natural features, create symmetry, add volume and/or provide intense moisturisation for the deeper layers of the skin.
The ageing face typically looses volume and creates sagging, dermal filler is placed in specific areas to counteract this process and create a youthful appearance. In doing so we also reduce the appearance of fine lines and contour the face to achieve the desired aesthetic.
Areas popular for dermal fillers include, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, cheeks, lips and peri-oral lines.
